Over the past week, some changes and new features have come to the SilviCultural platform. Here are the details.

New Terrain Layer

The mapping system was given a new terrain layer, which can be accessed by toggling the “terrain” button on the bottom left corner of the map interface. This feature allows users to display down to 2ft contour lines for a detailed look at the topography of land. Like other basemaps, the terrain function is fully exportable as a GeoTIFF and is great for scouting new land, finding hidden streams and water features, and finding the best way to access rough ground. Give it a try!

New Resources Tab

Available to both free and premium members, the new resources tab on the left hand menu provides links to valuable resources from external sources. Over time, this tab will grow to be a rich collection of tools and features already available out there for free.

New Upgrade to Premium Tab

Along with the addition of free memberships, a new upgrade to premium tab has been added to the header menu to provide users an easier way to upgrade their membership to access premium features.

Bug Fixes

Small bugs are still being found and fixed accordingly. Over the past week several bugs were fixed in the mapping program, including the snapping tool snapping to vertices found on objects hidden from view in the legend. In the queue to be fixed is a small display error that causes objects to momentarily disappear when hitting the enter key to save a group name, and a problem importing empty KML features. Please let us know of any potential issues you encounter.
