Community Guidelines

Welcome to SilviCultural! This is a space to share your passion for forestry, learn from each other, and connect with fellow forestry enthusiasts and experts.

To keep the SilviCultural a positive and productive space, we’ve outlined some community guidelines:

Respect:

  • Treat all members with courtesy and respect, regardless of background, experience level, or opinion.
  • Disagreements are welcome, but keep them civil and focused on the issue at hand.
  • Personal attacks, insults, and hateful language will not be tolerated.

Advertisement and Promotion:

  • Advertising and promoting one’s services or business is allowed and encouraged so long as said services or business are 1) forestry related and 2) likely to be relevant to the discussion or group where promoted.
  • Promotions should maintain relevance and value to other members. Promotion that does not may be flagged as spam and be removed by moderators without warning.

Safety and Privacy:

  • Illegal and dangerous activity: Do not promote or encourage illegal activities or activities likely to result in injury (such as climbing a tree with a chainsaw or executing a prescribed burn without experience) .
  • Sensitive content: Content that may be deemed sensitive or controversial is allowed insofar as it is relevant to forestry and rural living (such as hunting photos). Otherwise, posting of graphic or pornographic content is prohibited.

Moderation:

  • Our moderators are dedicated to maintaining a positive environment. They reserve the right to remove posts that violate these guidelines, and may issue temporary posting bans or permanent bans for repeat offenders. If a user is permanently banned, a refund for the previous period will be automatically issued.

Remember:

SilviCultural is a community we build together. By following these guidelines, you’re helping us create a valuable resource for all things forestry!

Additional Considerations:

  • Forestry-specific guidelines: Consider adding specific rules regarding sensitive topics like sustainable forestry practices, endangered species, or wildfires.
  • Content ownership: You may want to clarify ownership of content posted in the community.
  • Reporting: Establish a clear way for members to report violations of the guidelines.

By working together, we can make the Forestry Hub a thriving community for all forest enthusiasts!
